Description

Cardamom seeds come from a tropical plant in southern India and Sri Lanka. They contain a complex combination of floral, minty, and citrus flavors. Lightly crush seeds before adding to basmati pilafs, Indian curries, stews, teas, coffees, and Scandinavian baked goods. The seeds infuse dishes with bright, aromatic essence. Cardamon has been utilized as a seasoning for over 4,000 years, stemming from various ginger family plants and having a unique spicy-sweet taste. Ancient Egyptians used it in rituals, and Greeks and Romans included it in oils and perfumes. It pairs well with cinnamon and clove.
